Where am I now?

I guess I should get caught up on a few things. After the Peace Corps I lived at home for six months. I promised Mom six and that’s almost exactly what I gave her. I might have mentioned this to a few people; I love my home, it will always be home, but after about six months I start to get antsy. This last time was no exception. I had a decent job, but I choose to travel again. Looking back I am glad that I did. Had I stayed with the job that I had I would have become a broken angry person. (I’ll post on that later.)

That leaves me with what I am doing now. I currently live in Northern Japan on the main island. I live in the mountains, but I am only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean. I have never lived in the mountains or that close to a body of water that large that wasn’t a river. I won’t even begin to try to explain how beautiful it is here. That would be several posts and right now we are just getting started. I teach English at several elementary schools and one middle school. I say teach, but mostly I just play games with kids and try to make it fun for them. Hopefully by the time they get to High School they won’t be jaded and hate English as much as I hated Spanish.

Surprisingly enough I enjoy my work. (Since I get to play games.) But I will be honest. I am usually tired by the end of the day, nor am I sad when Friday rolls around and I can relax at home (hopefully) for a few days. I play music in my free time and try to stay active outdoors as well as indoors. This last year I discovered the joy of swimming and biking, and soon added them to my list of activities. Its a bit cold for riding right now, and I have put the bike away until the warmer days of spring have returned.

Of course there is a lot more going on, but I don’t want to throw out all my material in one go. So I will wait and think and see what comes out of my head in the next few weeks. Hopefully it will be interesting and fun enough for me to keep writing.
