I had some time at school today and just started writing poetry again. Yesterdays poem really got the creative bits flowing again. I try to take advantage of these times as often as possible. I can’t be a hundred percent sure on this but it seems that I write the most poetry when I am not drinking at all. I need a release for everything and it starts coming out in words. If this is the case then I might need to lay off the booze for a good long time and see if it keeps coming. I have noticed this before, but then I always forget.
——————
It’s dark, oh so dark
and tastes good every time;
family home brew.
Little small glasses,
filled to the brim with liquid;
I can’t drink you now.
——————
My dreams are alive.
They guide me to my future.
I’ll try to follow.
——————
What
does health
mean to me?
Plain and simple:
We can’t waste our time,
because this might just be
our only real chance for life.

The movie last night really got me moving. I haven’t written any kind of poetry since Hiroshima. I will have to find that and post it up here after bit. Until then, enjoy!
Cry into the night my hurt little one,
Cry, because you are scared of the future.
Your childhood was stolen from you today,
But you’ll pick up the pieces of your life.
You are stronger than what you think you are.
You’re strength is more than those responsible.
I could never understand what you feel,
But I’ll grieve for the pain you are bearing.
I must have faith in the world we live in.
We can overcome this terrible fate.
A much as I dislike rules in life, I seem to enjoy them when I am writing. I think I come up with my best poems when I work on a meter and don’t really worry about rhyme schemes.

Days of Dust
Dust and sand
all around
from all the land
Cloaking, Clogging
and generally fogging
up the mind and eyes
Strange it seems
with out sun beams
the world that glows
but does not show
the sun
__________
The river is brewing magic
life grows in and around it
It is more than the calm surface
that it shows the world.
__________
River swift
you are a misty dream
Bring me your solitude
__________
A bird with two tails
Sucks nectar from my budding tree
It sings a sad song
of longing and need
then flies off to unknown places

Admittance
I am a lonely traveler
running from
the truth
I want to be famous
and hide in my
obscurity
I feel shame for what I have done
and who I have hurt
and who I
will soon be hurting
I am afraid of what could be
and what
never was.
___________
Fairy bags
Gossamer things
A fairies wings that gently brush my skin.
Angels they are
but coolly declined as never really seen.
If one was to look
and only took it for what it seemed to be.
Then never could they
enjoy the day as I look unto thee.
Simple it seems
the gossamer wings flowing and apt to play
The wind that it rides
and time it will bide until it runs away
From real to unreal
imagination it is
or perhaps
it is more than I can say.
Shredded plastic bag?

Find your path in the darkness
and step upon every rock along the way.
Feel the deep emptiness and experience
how full it is.
Release yourself into a world of unknowns
knowing you have walked it all before.
____________
I
am
not
what
every
person
expects
me to be
every
time
I am
me
.

Flies and sweat
Humming through my body
Reminding me of the dead heat
That turns my body white as a cresting wave
The water dripping salty sea
Across the shores of my face
Skin like scales glistening colors of the sky
The pages of my book
Absorbing the water like the fine sand beach
Absorbs the ocean.
_________
The moon shines its pale eye
upon the paper.
Letting me write without phone or fire.
Shadows crawling slowly toward the dawn.
Make me ache
for my bed in the cool sand.

Birds in the morning
Twittering, twattering
Endless patatering
Whoosh, flush and thump
Birds in flight that jump
Limb, twig, branch and bole
All have disappeared, the whole.
__________
Cat
Rolling and rumbling
Black and white
Living, breathing, bumping, nipping
Innocent life of a cat
Sitting in my lap
Warm in a warm place.
___________
Ants and Lizards
Orange and blue posturing
Before an army of small teeth.
Carrying their home with them to new places.
Falling victim to the hunger
Of colors that attack it in three places.
Bright and dull hunger dancing among themselves to be king.
The winner missing its tail.

The sun sets
and the day falls.
The sun rises
and night slips into shadows.
__________
Peppers on the river banks
Red and green fire
oh so dry, Thirsting
water it does, Wanting
to grow, to Know
the sun, as I Run
to the waters edge, Nearing plants
that Capture the Suns heat
in their Fruit.
_________
Zarma thoughts in English
I have ugliness on my foot
it hurts
Flies do what they do
they annoy me
I hit them, but they don’t do
they don’t go
They return, coming.
__________
Children as hard as men
Men as thoughtless as children
Spring is summer and
Summer never really ending.
Laughter at the thought.
___________
Small angers returning
Little balls of fury
Rage received and given
only the animals suffer
without justice.
_________
Sifting to sleep
Crickets in the night sing
lazy songs endlessly to themselves.
Human laughter tittering
closer than the moon
casts Shadows.
A warm breeze sifts through
withdrawn leaves above my bed.
Moonlight finding purchase on
my face through a decaying
straw roof.
Slowly crawling towards the
sleep that will carry me through
Endless Nights.

I stared the devil in the eyes,
All I saw was my own reflection.
__________
Its never to late to be yourself.
__________
Children playing on chairs.
As quick to laughter,
As they are to crying.
__________
The wind blows in
dust and fears;
But only carries away
my dreams.

Lemon scented dawn,
by the cool river shore.
___________
Living lives of longing leaves us lethargic
___________
Blessed is the night.
When my soul wakens from its sleep.
Finally free,
In a world of dreams.
___________
One more speck in a world filled with chilling Echoes.
